Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Denis Villeneuve, known for <Sicario: City of the Assassins>, <Blade Runner 2049>, and the <Dune> series, as the new director of the <007> series. His wife and producer, Tanya Lapointe, has been brought on as executive producer. According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, Denis Villeneuve expressed his excitement, stating, “My earliest memories of ‘film’ are associated with the <007> series. I grew up watching James Bond films, starting with the first <007> film, <Dr. No> (1962) starring Sean Connery; I am a huge fan of Bond.” He also shared his ambition, saying, “I will respect the tradition of the <007> series while paving the way for a new mission in my own way. I feel an immense excitement as well as a heavy sense of responsibility.”

Mike Hopkins, the senior vice president of Amazon MGM Studios, expressed his anticipation, saying, “I want to quickly start the next adventure of James Bond with one of the greatest filmmakers of our time, Denis Villeneuve.” Amazon MGM has been diligently meeting with directors such as Edward Berger of <Conclave> and Edgar Wright of <Baby Driver> for a new beginning of the <007> series. However, there is still a long way to go. An excellent script is needed for Amazon MGM's first <007>, and most importantly, it has yet to be announced who the new James Bond will be, succeeding actor Daniel Craig, who has departed from the series.
